Using Audio Books in the Classroom
There are still some people who fail to take advantage of one of the most entertaining and simple to use interactive performances of modern times. That is, until they pick up their first audio book.
Transferring the mundane to the wonderful, audio books can make images unfold like a blossoming flower. The combination of mental and audio imagery, paired with a fertile imagination brings characters and plots to life. Listening to dialogue with all its nuances and reflections allows a reader of audio books to step over the threshold of joy more than traditional readers can attain through the printed word.
Although originally designed for entertainment or motivational purposes, audio books are now used by many educators who have discovered the advantages of providing audio content to students who struggle with learning for various reasons. Many teachers are using them as part of their regular curriculum because they have discovered that the combination of audio perception coupled with individual mental imagery can make short stories, plays and other literary devices more interesting, thus easier to retain.
Audio books are excellent resources for students. They not only promote active listening skills but also serve as an introduction to the various literary works required by the curriculum. In addition, they help to close the learning gap between students with reading difficulties and others as through active listening, students can increase their reading levels and articulate better. Additional learning modules, such as vocabulary, spelling and phonics can be more readily identified by employing audio imagery.
As a learning tool, they provide a perfect module for students wanting to learn another language. Easier than trying to absorb new words from the printed page, they also provide the opportunity to pick up on the many subtle reflections in a new language dialogue that can often alter word meanings. Although not entirely suited to all students, especially visual or tactile learners who may find them frustratingly slow, audio books have been a boon to teachers of special needs children and adults alike. They have also been a godsend for anyone afflicted with vision impairment or other learning challenges such as dyslexia.
Immigrants, educators and special needs readers are all slowly recognizing that audio books offer considerable benefit for instruction. The positive implications of coordinating audio modules with mental-visionary interpretation are overwhelming.
Audio books are slowly attaining mainstream acceptance. They offer an excellent medium for anyone to capture and enjoy the written word while still maintaining their busy, multi-tasking lifestyles. As entertainment they can be wondrous, as instructional modules they can be simply wonderful.

Best Seller Relationship Books May Make A Fool Of You
Don’t be fooled by fancy letters after the author’s name. Chances are they spent more time actually achieving those letters than working on their own relationships. Many highly educated people seek refuge in school, rather than interacting with people around them. They hit 40 with a string of letters after their name but with no real world experience. It’s amazing how a few letters can make people believe the author is an authority. Do these authors have any real life experience, or are they merely trying to cash in on their education?
Look for authors that have been there and done it. They’ve had bad relationships and put them back together, or they’ve helped countless friends and family patch their broken relationships. These are the authors that know their stuff. They write the books because they have the experience. Not because they have the education and know the theory.
Try to avoid the books that seem to string out the same message of “have a break for a month and live your life” for 50 odd pages. This is the content of a lot of “save your relationship” and “get back with your ex” books. These books are simply padded out to perceive value. They don’t deserve your time or your money.
Look for relationship books that can give you something new and unique. Information you don’t get from your friends.
Will most books tell you what women crave the most? Will it show you – step by step – how to give this to her? Will it show you how to recover your relationship after an affair? Will it show you actual tips and techniques to ease your pain after a break up?
Last but certainly not least, look at who is endorsing the book. Are the testimonials genuine? Do they look genuine or simply made up by the authors friends and family?
You want relationship books recommended by a wide variety of people, from various walks of life. If you can see testimonials from people from different countries then chances are they are genuinely grateful people.
Of the countless relationship books on the market only a very small handful are worth your money. Most are worthless as they are written by people who know the theory of it, but they haven’t seen any action. They give general advice, often stretched out, that can be summed up in a couple of paragraphs.
Finding the best relationship books can be hard work. But the best relationships are hard work, but worth the work. Invest your time and money in the best book you can find.
Even if you take my advice and spend your money wisely, nothing can happen unless you take action of some sort. No action = no results.

Many sites, like free-books, offer free downloads of your favorite informative or educational audio book. Fiction books are often available for a discounted rate.
Another popular feature of audio books online is that you can rent an audio book in much the same way you would rent a video. Several companies offer a subscription-based service where customers can pay a monthly fee and have access to an unlimited number of audio books online.
Websites, like recordedbooks and jiggerbug, offer members unlimited rentals for a low monthly fee. Similar to the Netflix video rental service, members do not have to pay late fees or shipping charges for their selections. This is a great way for book lovers to expand their reading possibilities because they can try new books and genres with no risk.
Audio books are not only available in a wide variety of formats, but you can also find a huge selection of titles and genres to fit your individual preferences. If you enjoy fiction, you are sure to find a variety of websites that offer downloads of the most popular fiction audio books.
If you enjoy history, you can find many websites that specialize in great history writings. For your children, you can even find hundreds of educational audio books to supplement their learning. Websites are constantly adding new and exciting titles to their list of selections.

The internet adds the convenience of being able to shop from your home without needing to go to the library or bookstore to find what you need. The internet has transformed the way many industries and companies do business and the audio books industry is no exception.
Many Advantages To Using Audio Books For Learning
Audio books on tapes and CDs are becoming much more popular today, especially in the field of education in which there are a number of advantages to be had and which is best seen when you see the great success that is readily evident even in the case of those who are beginners or who struggle with being able to read properly. In fact, there are many advantages to using audio books for learning and that is why they are being used in many schools as well as in homes.
Low Costs
Other than the advantages of improvement in learning as a result of using audio books, there is also the cost factor that makes spoken books for learning a good choice since it is far cheaper to use electronic book sets than it is to buy paper based books since audio books for learning will do away with the need to buy individual books. In addition, teachers too find greater ease in teaching their students through the medium of audio.
Also, according to research findings, it has been found that humans generally learn as much as, it is believed, eighty-five percent of their total knowledge through listening, and using audio books for learning also helps in improving one’s comprehensive as well as listening skills, and it also aids in learning how to pronounce words correctly. However, using audio books for learning is more than simply useful in the classroom, since those who study at home can also use spoken books to learn at home at their own leisure, and it can also help kindle greater interest in various subjects such as literature and even history.
Audio books for learning are also ideal for children, who as everyone knows, love to read and thus they can be exposed even more to much more than fairy tales, and spoken books also weans them away from laziness and bad habits, and it makes for fewer chances of the children getting bored. What’s more, these books also have great sound effects that make the learning process more fun, and thus it makes children associate subjects such as literature with being a fun thing to do.
Even adults can use audio books for learning in order to pick up a foreign language since it is well known that learning new languages is considerably easier when one listens to the sounds rather than reads about new words. And, you also don’t need to attend a class, unless of course, you want to get certified.
No doubt, you will find a number of different reasons why you would want to use audio books for learning, though education is still the topmost reason, and so you will be sure to find many more educational audio books than say, novels.
Give Your Kids The Best Start – Introduce Books At An Early Age
Every one of us wants to give our children the best we can provide, of love, care and education. The best course is to prepare our children in a manner that will enable them to face the challenges life throws at them as they grow older. Keeping a child occupied, however, is one of the most trying jobs that parents face. Books for children, apart from helping in keeping the child occupied, can provide a lot of food for thought and are a major tool for educating children.
The habit of reading should be inculcated at an early age. After all, as they grow up they will be required to read and read more and read even more. If children are already familiar with books and have read books for children, you will find that they will not shirk from reading textbooks too.
In fact, books are the best gift you can give to your child. Books for children are available for all ages – toddlers, pre-schoolers, school going and teenagers. For smaller kids here are picture books that your young one may not understand to start with but they provide a positive association with books in general and this proves to be extremely beneficial as the child grows. Books for children that are meant for use during early childhood are very colorful and attractive. They are also made of soft material and do not harm children in any way. Reputable manufacturers ensure that the paper and ink used in them do not contain any toxic material.
As the child grows, you can look for books for children that have little words along with pictures. The child will understand that words tell a story and the pictures are associated with them. This has a very positive developmental effect on children and stands them in good stead later.
Once children cross three years you can buy books that have more of a story and less of pictures. Such books for children inculcate the habit of inquisitiveness and asking questions. Your child will reap the benefits of this habit when he/she joins school as it is only by asking questions that children can elicit additional information and knowledge from the teacher. You can also look for books for children that have rhyming words. Rhyming words are easier to memorize than simple prose. Such books for children help in developing a good memory in children.
Buying books for children is easy and once you explore the possibilities you will find it a pleasant experience shopping for them. Big book stores have separate display areas for books for children. Many stores go to great lengths to provide facilities to parents who bring their children along. They may have a play area or story time to keep children occupied while the adults look around for appropriate books.
Libraries too organize such programs to help develop the habit of reading among children. Lot of enterprising parents take upon themselves to start programs like book sharing and story time within their communities. This also provides a convenient platform for donating the books your child has outgrown from.
Audio Books for the Blind: Technology Bridges the Gap
The goal of technology is to make people’s lives easier, more convenient, and better. Nowhere is this more prominently demonstrated than in audio books for the blind.
Our society has always been visual and is becoming increasingly so: from newspapers and books to computer screens, blind people have faced the struggle of accessing information that is readily available to most other people. The ability to read a book or newspaper is taken for granted by many of us, but it is a pleasure that is often denied the blind.
Today’s biggest technological advancements – computers and internet access – provide an opportunity to view even more information, but in a format that is difficult for those with visual impairments. Braille, of course, is one method that blind people can enjoy written language and learn. However, this tactile form of reading is expensive, making it unhelpful for many who are blind.
With one seemingly simple advancement, doors to gaining information, being entertained, and staying current with the news were thrown open: enter audio books for the blind.
For the first time, visually impaired people could go online and download their choice of books. The mass production of audio books for the blind, the opportunity came to learn in a way that had never been available before. In addition, the audio books were inexpensive or even free, making them accessible to most blind people.
Technology really can help improve and enhance people’s lives: in the case of audio books, it has helped blind and visually impaired individuals obtain knowledge in a way that they couldn’t just five or ten years previous.
Art, music, drama, history, geography, economics, current events, fiction, biographies, poetry – no genre, subject, or style is off limits when it comes to audio books. Visually impaired people have access to the world of knowledge that was previously housed in books, newspapers, or magazines.
In the area of education, audio books have been particularly helpful and effective. Core subjects of reading, writing, math, and science are able to be learned through audio books, making easy access to education a right enjoyed by the blind and visually impaired.
There is more to audio books than education. They can be accessed solely for the pleasure of hearing a story. Thousands of titles are available in audio formats, including popular and contemporary authors, classics, fiction, non-fiction, and much more.
With all the technological advancements being made, it is easy to forget the people that are an integral part of the equation. Audio books for the blind are an example of technology at its best and most helpful.
Downloadable Audio Books: Demand Up And Prices Down
Yes, audio books demand is growing very rapidly and the industry has a hard time delivering what consumers demand. And the increased demand means for consumers that prices are coming down as quantities increase.
One has to distinguish between the physical product audio book, that is delivered on cassettes and CD’s and the digital audio book that can ‘only’ be downloaded from the Internet. But let’s first look why the demand has increased that much:
The hectic lifestyle most of us are forced to lead leaves little time to sit down and read a book. Commuting, heavy work schedules, the kids, different daily chores use up a lot of time. There is simply not enough time left to pick up a book and sit down to enjoy it….
On the other hand we all have time in the day when we are not really busy mentally, where the brain is in ‘idle’ or has at least a lot of spare capacity. Whilst you are occupied with work that demands that you use your eyes (and hands), the mind would be glad to get decent and stimulating input. Just think traffic jam, weeding or cutting the grass, or any other manual chore and housework that use up hours every day, or jogging, working out – any type of sport that mostly occupies the muscles.
An audio book, read by a professional narrator who is telling you the story, is an ideal way to ‘read’ books that you wanted to read for a long time, but that lack of time did not permit. Story telling has a very long tradition and with the new technology, it is gaining popularity again.
“For many people, listening to an audio book is an opportunity to hear an author firsthand,” says Mary Beth Roche, president of the Audio Publishers Association (APA) and president of Audio Renaissance, a New York-based audio book company. “It’s like having the very best lecture series, not just in your own town, but in your own car or home.” – and at your command, they’ll read when YOU are ready to listen.
Audio books used to be thought of as limited special products for only the blind and sight impaired or for kids and lazy people who either can not or do not want to read themselves. This has dramatically changed over the last few years. A survey of the Audio Publisher’s Association has found that the average listener to audio books is about 45 years of age and has an average yearly income of more than $50’000, at least a college education and often more advanced degrees. And these people are very Internet savvy.
In short: These affluent middle aged internauts are the ideal customers for on line audio book shops. Downloading an audio book is like picking up their email for these customers and they appreciate the ease of purchasing a new novel in form of a down loadable audio book, be it for their iPod, Zune or other MP3 player.
“Middle-class, well educated, and smart, that’s a great demographic to have,” says Eileen Hutton, vice president of editorial for Brilliance Audio, one of the oldest publishers of audio books.
Roche says there is no data on sales for the industry as a whole. “We are just beginning to send out surveys to compile sales information, but individually, members of the Association boast of annual sales increases in the double digits,” Roche adds.
Audio book sales are increasing so fast that the audio book industry is not able to keep up with the demand. Creating an audio version of a book is more costly and time intensive than printing. More often than not, an actor or a professional narrator has to be hired to narrate the book, and there’s the cost of the recording studio, a production crew, post production and packaging ( that applies to conventional audio books on CD – Down loadable audio books don’t have that cost attached.). A large saving can be made by making the audio books available as down-loadable audio file. This is also reflected in the cheaper prices for audio books that are down loadable directly from an on-line audio book store.
The peak sales season for audio publishers are in the spring as Americans prepare for those long driving vacations or basking on the beach, and before the Christmas season, when people are shopping for holiday gifts. Sales start to be a lot more even though, as people routinely pick up audio books to feed their MP3 players.
Audio books are especially good for children who hate to read because of problems in school. That way they are familiarized with the adventure of using their own imagination to paint their mental pictures of what they hear, rather than just staring on the TV screen. Also, if they have the book and the audio, reading along can help to overcome reading problems:
“Librarians and teachers have been using audio books for years in the classroom, but parents aren’t making the logical connection at home,” says Amanda D’Acierno, director of audio publishing at Random House. “It’s been proven that listening and reading go hand and hand. If children can hear the spoken word and follow along with the book that helps them. Listening is much more in tune with the way humans learn than sitting down and reading a book.”
People who for some reason or other don’t have the reading skills they should have, but are intellectually fit can listen to audio books to continue their education and listen to self help audiobooks, language course audios etc.
Audio Books
As we know since early times books were one of the main sources of knowledge. In many cases people told that one of their hobbies was a reading. But today the situation with reading is rather different. Many people are too busy both at work ands home and that’s why there is no enough time which can be dedicated to reading of interesting novel or detective or adventure story or fantasy. This process takes a lot of time which we don’t have because it is necessary to do plenty of other things. But if you still want to read new literary works or old works which didn’t have the possibility to read in past, then let’s find some alternative. It becomes obvious that audio book is worthy alternative to traditional book.
Today audio books become more and more popular because people realized all their advantages. Audio book can be used anywhere – while you are travelling, at work, at home, while you are walking, in general you can do something and at the same time to listen to interesting novel or detective of your favorite author. Such kind of books also enlarges your vocabulary with new words, word combinations and phrases.
You can purchase audio books at CD and DVD shops, music libraries, and big supermarkets. It is also possible to order audio books online. And there are even such websites where it is possible to download audio books free. Among the biggest online bookstores it is necessary to mention Audiobooks.org, Amazon.co.uk, and Audiobooks.net. Audio Books For Children
Do your kids spend their entire day watching TV? Are you worried about the kind of music they hear? Won’t it be wonderful if kids could just sit quietly with a book and experience a story which are both age appropriate and informative? We know you would and also know that it is the hardest thing to do.
Today’s children think that gadgets are their life and books are just for school. But there’s a way out of this problem. Get some audio books for your children. This new format of literature is getting extremely popular because today, even children don’t have the time or patience to read a normal book. Audio books are especially popular among preteens and teenagers as they love the combination of technology with literature.
It is also extremely convenient for them because now, they don’t have to carry around the heavy books with them. They can download and carry all their favorite books in their IPods in MP3 format. This could not be easier as there are loads of websites which offer thousands of audio books.
Audio books are a great way to introduce small children to books too. They introduce them with a completely different world and give them an activity other than watching TV inside the house. Audio books are also a great solution for the small children who have not learned to read yet. You can give them an audio book loaded on an IPod or play it on a CD player. This will not only keep the children busy but they will also learn some new words. There are loads of audio books for small children in the market which are both entertaining and educational.
In order to introduce a young child to audio books, you must start from a book that he or she loves. Try not to impose the educational stuff on him or her in the beginning as it will just deter them. Start with the story books they love and gradually introduce other genres. Most small kids would jump at the idea of listening to an audio book as it will give them a chance to use an IPod or CD player which is a big deal at that age.
You can also include audio books in the daily activities of your kids. For example, they can hear a book while you drive them to school or as they clean their room and do their house chores. This will make these mundane and mostly boring activities interesting for them.
Audio books are also great for children with learning disabilities. It has been often seen that children with such problems, resist reading books for pleasure. As it is very difficult to learn and remember big words for children with learning disabilities, audio books also help them catch the right pronounciation of words and improve their vocabulary.

How Books Appear in our World?
Paperback books have a firm time standing up the recurrent use the majority of school libraries subject them to. Even at what time students are cautious, these books start to fall apart-especially the more well-liked ones. Since books are so luxurious, finding a way to remain them unbroken and in flow can give your library a financial increase. One great method to do this is by investing in a thermal fastening machine.
Usually, reactivating the paste with heat does the job and secures the book’s wrap to the pages. From time to time, there is just inadequate glue on the book block to employ this technique. When you discover yourself in these circumstances, you will require re-binding the book by means of a thermal paste binding strip. You are able to buy these in strips that are one inch broad and twelve inches long. They are simple to modify by cutting them to size by means of scissors. Make certain you cut the narrow piece to discover the inside region of the spine. If you cut it to fit the exterior, it will be a little bit too large. After you cut the paste strip to just the correct size, place it in the cover and on the book’s spine. Put it into your machine and let it do the work of melting the paste and securing the pages. Once more, when you take away the book from the machine, valve it (spine side down) on top of the table to resolve the pages into the paste to safe them.
Certainly, there are a lot of options when it comes to machines for repairing your yielding wrap books. For your school records, the standout victor is the Coverbind 5000. This machine can grip books up to two inches thick. Lots of other models can just contain books one inch thick or slighter.
